Lauren Zabel’s dream job if you asked her in college was to be a film festival director. 

She studied Film at University of California, Santa Barbara. And everyone kept telling her “well the way you’d become a film festival director is if the last one died.” Less than encouraging career advice and entering the work world in a recession,  Lauren instead spent her career in recruiting. She fought for underrepresented students in tech at big named brand companies. So as she likes to joke about her career, she took a break for coffee along the way.

Being around the best and brightest students and add in a pandemic, Lauren decided to get her MBA at Pepperdine University. She had a very specific goal in mind for entering this program and that included going back to her roots in film and adding the new ingredient of coffee. 

The idea for Picture City Coffee was born.

Lauren cannot wait to share great coffee, great food, and a great place to watch movies with you. Stay tuned as we build Picture City from the coffee grounds up!
